Dr. Gliden says many if not most cases of high blood pressure are from magnesium deficiency, not bad genes, or old age.
Magnesium helps the inner musculature of arteries relax which in turns keeps the inner part where blood flows through (lumen) dilated.
However, if someones system doesn’t have enough magnesium, the inner musculature can constrict thus making the lumen smaller and increasing the blood pressure.
Magnesium is a mineral that should be in food we consume. However, much of the soil no longer has robust amounts of magnesium therefore modern day magnesium consumption is at an all time low.
Here are some ways to get magnesium: pumpkin seeds, kale, avocado, dark chocolate and magnesium supplements (magnesium malate, glycerinate, oxide).
As you can see magnesium is important for blood pressure. If your blood pressure is high, you may want to consider increasing magnesium in your diet.
